Bairang
A letter sent without enough postage. Whoever receives it pays, or it goes back.
Bairang is a band of individual practitioners, each doing their own thing, who show and publish together in episodes. The work sits between art and design. I curate it, and I am also one of the people in it. It continues what I called self-validation here in 2013.
Each invitation carries a provocation and asks for one work in response to it. There is no open call. You can propose yourself as somebody I should invite, and a gallery or space can say what it can offer an episode. I write to spaces and ask what they could offer. I invite them to apply or pitch.
